Fostering Saves Lives

Have you ever wondered how you could help and help save the lives of shelter dogs and cats? Consider giving fostering a try!

Lake Humane Society has the capability to house hundreds of animals. We welcome animals of all shapes and sizes into our safe haven for protection and nurturing as long as necessary. However, there are never enough cages for all the animals needing care.

We are therefore proud to provide a fostering program that allows individuals or families to “home” a pet on a temporary basis. Animals need foster care for various reasons. Some may simply need human socialization; others may need medicine or time to grow. The heartwarming results are a loving and devoted companion that is now ready for the next transition, to a new family or maybe just staying and making his home with you. Even if you have your own pets at home you can be a foster!!

In addition to love and affection, you, the foster parent provides basic care for the animals such as food, water, and shelter. You are also asked to transport your “foster” back and forth to the shelter for scheduled check-up visits. Of course we are always here to help you to answer any questions or concerns that you might have 24hours a day.

There is nothing more rewarding then watching an animal being adopted into their Forever Home and knowing that you were a part of that process. The love you give to these animals is so very important and makes such a difference. Also, if you have children, the lessons and compassion that they learn from fostering will change their lives and stay with them for a lifetime.

Simply put, our Foster Program saves lives and you can be a part of that!!!
