Although Lake Humane Society takes in thousands of animals every year, there is never enough warm cages and loving hands to care for all the animals in need. In addition, many times we take animals in that require a little extra space, time, attention, and love. Whether it’s a litter of young kittens too small to be vaccinated or a dog in need of recovery time after an extensive surgery, Lake Humane Society couldn’t provide them the much needed care without the help of our Foster Program.
When an animal is in need of foster care, a pre-approved foster family is contacted to care for that animal. The foster parent may be required to bring the animal back to the shelter periodically for check-ups and vaccinations during the time they are fostering. Lake Humane Society will provide the foster family with the materials needed to foster such as food, bowls, litter, etc. While the animal is in the foster program, LHS will be responsible for all of the animal’s medical treatment. If you are interested in becoming a foster for LHS, please fill out the Foster Application and return it to our shelter.
Our Foster Program helps us save more lives and you can be a part of that!
