At Lake Humane Society we have many different opportunities for the members of our community to lend a helping hand. We give our volunteers the chance to try out different things and see what they enjoy most. Below is a brief description of the volunteer positions we have at our facility.
Animal Care Assistant – assist the staff with the daily care of the animals housed in our facility, including cage cleaning, feeding, and general housekeeping. The Animal Care Assistant will have direct contact with the animals in our facility under the supervision of our staff.
Daily Maintenance Assistant – assist the staff with the daily care of our shelter and general housekeeping, such as laundry, Kong stuffing, cleaning dishes as well as data entry and general office work. The Daily Maintenance Assistant will have little, if any, contact with the animals in our facility.
Shelter Hosts/Hostesses – greets visitors of the shelter and directs them on how the adoption process works. The Shelter Hosts may also assist with showing adoptable animals to potential adopters and assist the front desk with general office duties.
Dog Walker – our dog program provides our volunteers the opportunity to not only walk dogs, but also to work on basic training and enrichment. A Dog Walker will have direct contact with the dogs in our facility and must be at least 18 years of age.
TLC – provide necessary attention and care for the cats and small animals in our facility. The TLC volunteer will have direct contact with cats and small animals and may be asked to assist with showing animals to potential adopters.
Off-Site Shelter Representative – attend special events, mobile adoptions, and fundraisers and assist the staff with various duties including donation collections, sales, off-site animal adoptions, and other duties depending on the event.
