LHS Third Party Fundraiser & Event Guidelines

Thank you for your interest in hosting an event to benefit Lake Humane Society. For over 85 years, LHS’s mission of rescuing animals and connecting people and pets through adoption and other services has been supported by generous donors. LHS is a 501(c)3 non-profit, which relies solely on donor contributions; LHS receives zero government funding.

LHS is grateful for the support of third-party/community event organizers and is pleased to strive to work with our third-party/community event organizers to ensure the event’s success and to avoid any conflicts with LHS donors, corporate sponsors, or events already planned. LHS asks that you adhere to the following requirements when planning your event:

  1. Complete and submit a third-party event application at least 30 days prior to your event. Your event/promotion must be compatible with LHS’s mission and promote the appropriate image of LHS.
  2. Consult with LHS before any businesses, corporations, foundations, or individuals are approached for support of the event/promotion. LHS needs to be informed and involved to ensure the solicitation is appropriate, coordinated, and to prevent incidents of simultaneous asks of the same vendor.
  3.  Do not print any materials, pursue any media publicity, or solicit cash/in-kind sponsors until you have received approval for your event from LHS.
  4. The fundraising event organizer/sponsor agrees to obtain all required permits and licenses, and comply with Ohio laws.
  5. The event organizer ensures the LHS name and logo are used correctly and spelled properly.
  6. LHS does not provide mailing lists, pay for any costs associated with the event or guarantee attendance at the event.
  7. The event organizer agrees to notify LHS of any changes in the event/promotion.

Upon Approval of Your Application:

  • We will send you the LHS logo to you exclusively for use in the promotion of your event. Any other use is prohibited without written consent.
  • LHS will promote your event on its website and other social media platforms.
  • We will add your event to our third-party/community event calendar and have a presence at the event if requested.

Please note that while we do have volunteers available to represent LHS at your event, we are not always able to assist with other volunteer needs.

Animals at Your Event:

We receive many requests to have animals onsite at third-party/community events. While we do our best to accommodate as many requests as we can, we are limited based on our shelter population as well as staff/volunteers.

Typically, we are able to bring two to three adoptable dogs to smaller events; however, they are not available for adoption on-site. If you are requesting to host a “same-day adoption event”, we require at least an eight-week notice. Again, there is no guarantee we can accommodate your request.

We receive a great deal of requests to have LHS and animals on-site at third party events. While we do our best to accommodate as many events as we can, we are very limited on our animal population as well as staff and volunteers and will not always be able to attend. Typically, we are able to bring 2-3 dogs to smaller events, however, they are not available to adopt on-site at said event. If you are requesting to host a "same day adoption event", we require at least 8 weeks noticed and cannot guarantee that we will be able to accommodate due to limited staff & volunteers.
