Each year, over 1,200 pets enter our care. Once we nurse them back to health and prepare them for adoption, our team works to match our pets with the home and family that best suits their needs. We want all of the abused, abandoned, neglected, and unwanted pets in our community to find the loving forever home they deserve. Make adoption your only option and adopt a shelter pet today!
Our Services
Pet Adoption
Humane Investigations Department
Lake Humane Society provides protection to the animals of Lake County through our Humane Investigations department. Our Humane Agent, who was appointed by the Lake County Probate Court, works together with local law enforcement to fight animal cruelty and neglect across all of Lake County.
Medical Services
Here at LHS, we are working to build stronger programming which helps promote the safety of animals and people in our community. We strive to offer medical services, such as microchipping, TNR, and wellness clinics to the community.
Humane Education & Training
We’ve expanded our humane education programs and training to help members of our community — no matter their age! We host humane education presentations at local schools, we hold classes that benefit the whole family, such as Dogs and Storks, and we hold obedience training classes to promote responsible pet ownership.
Pet Intake
When pets in our community have nowhere else to turn, we welcome them with open arms. Here at LHS, we accept owner surrender pets, injured stray dogs, and stray cats and small animals. We are a managed intake shelter, which means we must instate a waiting list for intake once we reach capacity. This gives every animal a chance at a new life.
